That is all mostly 80's music. The Police started in the 70's but got really big in the 80's.
90's was awful. Short of Soundgarden I can't think of one really great band of the decade. Nirvana? Although they were huge I never thought they were particularly good. Blind Melon and Sublime stand out for me as they were good songwriters but this is 2 or 3 bands out of 50 to 100 national acts. Music died in the 90's. The industry really tried in the 80's but was finally successful at killing creativity in the 1990's.
I still have a special place in my heart for NWA only because of how over the top it was. Between Slayer and NWA I love brutality in music and those guys nailed it.
Definitely better music.
It may be better than now but the 90's was not a great decade for music.
