There is a chance you're going to cause someone unwanted attention and problems. It's not hard to do and it's common courtesy. Position the lens so the plates aren't visible. Or you can crop the photo or color over the plates.
Edit: Also try to remember to mark out makes and models.
Where is the thread that this happened? You can deport and put no doxing, or hit other and note that the license plate is showing. Did you also post this in the thread that's in question? From what I've seen on the threads where a vehicle does show the license plate is usually blocked out.
Yes, usually. But there are azzhats even here who scream that info is 'public' and people can see those plates all day. Yeah, maybe, if they happen to be in the same exact location, but not if they're thousands of miles away.

Actually I'd be pissed if someone posted my plates. However I don't do bumper or window stickers so it's not likely that would happen to me. He's right the plates should be blocked out on that thread even if it's just partial plates.
