Weird question.
I do pet sitting as a job, and spend the night at peoples houses while caring for other animals.
Just about every client has their animal on some type of medication. What is going on with this? Why do animals need this much medication?
My question is… Do people on this platform that have animals, are they on special medication’s? Is this normal?
I have owned pets - dogs, cats, birds, reptiles - and horses all my life. About 20 years, I started going the natural health care direction for my animals (which led me that way for my personal health, also). And I stopped the vaccinations after some study showed that they were at best questionable, and at worst, the cause of health problems. Overall, my animals have been extremely healthy. None of us take medications, besides occasional dewormers. Animals on meds - that's ridiculous! Also crazy for people to be on meds. Just common sense and a little study makes that clear.
Thanks for the reply… Yeah, it just seems crazy to me. Some of the animals actually get insulin shots. Just weird.
I will say that I have indoor cats and do not do shots so they do not go to the vet. I treat any conditions with homeopathics...available for pets online...a blend for cough and another for urinary tract. I don't mess with drugs for humans or animals. I also put out coconut oil for the pets to lick and that helps their skin and coats. The oldest is 18 and the younger ones are 9. I do use pet calming chews and I also diffuse a peace and calming blend if they get a little wild.
That’s interesting about the coconut oil, I’ve never heard about that. I’m gonna talk to my family about that. She’s got a lot of cats. Thanks.
I've had dogs and cats all my life (and other critters). My senior dogs I have treated for pain, but never steroids. My rescue is getting old, 12 , i've had her for 7 years, she is treated for seizures, I use a med that is normally used in humans, as the vet recommended, and only after she had had 4 and then had a cluster, I had tried CBD, shes been on it for 4 years and there are very few side effects. Other than that, no. I do use supplements and herbs and seldom feed commercial food, they eat meats and oatmeals and veggies, slightly cooked. Old dogs do have all the pains of aging and arthritis, maybe worse, if they are an active breed or working companion.
Happy to hear you’re feeding them healthy food. I think dog food and cat food dry stuff, is the cost for a lot of health issues with the animals. It’s basically just garbage like they feed us. Anything in the package you know. Thanks for the info.
I don’t think so. With that being said, I do have a 16 and a 15 yr old dogs. Only in the past couple of years have they had to go on meds. They each take an arthritis med. I only give them half of that and supplement them with apple cider vinegar. It does wonders for joints and it’s all natural. As far as the 13 year old cat, she is wide open. Never been to the doctor a day in her life.
Its about equal rights. These people load up their kids with all kinds of medication. They dont want their animals to feel left out.
Lol. Now that’s funny… I wasn’t expecting that response. But I think you’re right. People are so used to taking pills for everything, they want their animals to feel like they’re part of the family.
