You don't have to go into space to witness the curvature of the Earth or see how stars change with the seasons.

The Ancient Greeks, the Romans, and scholars within the middle ages figured out that the Earth is round, and they never been to space. Even in Christopher Columbus days, it is known that the Earth is round.
