Alcoholism also runs in my family...just got bad news about a DUI car accident my daughter was involved in...I HATE ALCOHOL with every fiber of my being. But I am glad I was reminded of this research today because I will certainly be utilizing it very soon. Everything happens at exactly the right time...God bless your family...
Knowledge is power!
So sorry about your daughter I hope she is okay. I am obsessed with researching this issue. I truly wouldn't wish this disease on my worst enemy. It is torturous and devastating to the afflicted person and everyone around him/her. And I have been through enough programs to have met and have watched dozens of people with so much promise and so much to lose, slowly kill themselves and drain their family to the point of exhaustion. It sucks. Royally.
Well, let's see...2 wrecked cars, the other person hospitalized, she is in jail, she is in school, and will probably miss some now, is a licensed social worker and may have her license suspended (she was coming home from a patient) and may lose her job...other than that everything is fine...you know how it goes with things like this,,,it is a domino effect and truthfully it is very hard to make everything right after such stupid behavior. But her and the other person are okay...thank God. But this is what this addiction does...it doesn't make any sense...she is 38 and has 2 kids. I am pretty angry at her stupidity. It's as you say...exhausting...and so very destructive.
Has she read or listened to Allen Carrs easy way method to control alcohol? Don’t let the title fool you, it is to stop drinking permanently. You can get the audiobook free using an audible trial.
I quit smoking after 18 years of smoking, after listening to his quit smoking audiobook, 26 days so far, and it was easy. It basically removes all the brainwashing using repeated logic of why there is no genuine pleasure in the addiction. Once that happens, the craving goes, the struggle goes, and it’s easy to quit.
Anyway I recommend it. Sometimes addiction and quitting is hard because we’ve been brainwashed to believe it is. Like I said 18 years of struggling to quit smoking in my case. And I have had addiction issues with weed and alcohol too in the past, but the quitting smoking was my main culprit, and once I quit using the audiobook, it has a knock on effect to avoiding those past addictions again.
I will certainly pass it along. The general consensus from Dr. Hoffer is that it is the biochemical makeup that predisposes a person to alcoholism. So your success was with smoking and I am sure that there are behavior issues that are at the core of all addictions, but I am wondering if you don't correct the physical issues, how can there be permanent success? Thanks for the suggestion...I will surely look into it.

I’m so sorry. I hear so many of these stories lately.
