I studied yoga and it's sister science of Ayurveda. There is very little high blood pressure/ arthritis in India due to their high consumption of tumeric in their diet. Tumeric when combined with a dash of black pepper has the anti-inflammatory properties equal or exceeding that of Ibuprofen. The addition of black pepper increases tumeric's beneficial properties by 2000%
Another way is to make an Indonesian juice called Jamu that is turmeric and ginger based. You can sprinkle some black pepper in to help absorb the turmeric more and can probably throw some cayenne pepper in too. I learned to love it even with the pepper. I miss Indonesia.
There are a lot of spices with great health properties. Turmeric is one. Indian dishes are filled with beneficial spices.
Granted... Indian dishes aren't to everyone's taste.

You can do turmeric in other cuisines as well; I've worked it into Southern and Thai dishes.
