Longtime Fox News executive Alan Komissaroff is dead at 47 after a heart attack that ultimately proved to be fatal.

A heart attack isn't always fatal. Many peopole survive one or more heart attacks and recover to live a normal life. (Well, as normal as a life can be when you are hounded by "the medical profession" to take unnecessary medicine forever.)

Yes, but once the writer has informed us that the man is dead after a heart attack, it is redundant to specify that the same heart attack that killed him also proved to be fatal.
