One would think so. But I'll bet if one dug deep enough, there is likely waivers / loop holes when it comes to sharing your info "with the government". That's different than giving to a common criminal. The criminal will just try to steal your money, not your life.
The "loophole" is the customer signing off on their terms of service.
That is likely true. There was a song once warning of "burying us in mounds of paperwork" to keep us blind. The fine print needs to go.
I was also wondering about "Emergency Powers." There's a lot of sneaky stuff in those rules. Edit: I'm an RN and former inpatient psych nurse. One day I found out that if a patient makes a threat against the President of the United States, the MD must report it to the FBI, who will arrive within the hour. No HIPAA protection in that case.
Wow. That is some scary crap. And kudos to you for being a psych nurse. I dealt with addicts and alcoholics for 13 years. Unfortunately, some ended up there. That's a tough gig.
Howdy fren, yes, a very tough gig. I did it for a long time until the day I could not do it any more, and that was my last day in the hospital. I hope I never have to go back to that.
For your sake, I hope so as well.
