A Christian on the island of Malta is facing the possibility of a jail term for leaving the LGBT lifestyle he had adopted years earlier. And then TALKING about his decision.
It is Fox News that is reporting on the dilemma facing Matthew Grech, 33.
He faces fines and prison for "allegedly falling afoul of his country's ban on 'conversion practices.'"
It seems he explained to local media when he left homosexuality behind because he came to believe, under Christianity, it is wrong.
The reporters who did the interviews also could face charges.
Grech told Fox he was interviewed by a group called PMnews, and then was confronted by police who served him with a summons to court.
Fox documented that "at no point" did Grech "invite anyone to attend therapy to change their sexual orientation or gender identity."
Is there any legitimate reason people should be precluded from talking about leaving the LGBT lifestyle?
He explained LGBT activists with influence over the government called police and now "he now faces up to €5,000 in fines or up to five months in prison if convicted of violating Article 3, Section 3 of Malta’s Affirmation of Sexual Orientation, Gender and Gender Expression Act."
That makes it illegal to "advertise" conversion "practices."
He's being helped in his defense by the London-based Christian Legal Centre, where chief executive Andrea Williams said the government is violating Grech's "Christian freedoms and fundamental right to free speech."
Malta's speech ban was adopted in 2016, and preceded similar moves against free speech that now are in place in 20 states in the United States.
Grech said he believes activists worldwide are using conversion therapy bans to silence opinions that dissent from their adopted ideologies.

But when gays talk about their lifestyle openly that’s not considered “converting”?
This is a perfect example of what's wrong is right and what's right is wrong...
So now it’s illegal to not be gay?
They hate it when people convert to Christianity and speak of life changes. No freedom of speech in Malta.
Apparently. Praying for that man.
