We have 4 adults in my home, two are disabled, so the meal preps are different, I have cases of nutritional supplements drinks and dehydrated potatos and cans of hearty soups, for the two of us who are not and can eat anything, I plan on one "main" meal a day, I have a combination of MRE's, Mountain House, Augasson Farms dehydrated meals, cans of spam, tamales, hash, soups, veggies, pilot crackers, brown bread, about 2 months worth of dried rice and beans, many pounds of nuts and seeds and dehydrated fruit, flours. Two months of meat in the freezer, turkeys, lamb and stew meats. Also first aid supplies, bleach, peroxide, 90% alcohol, wraps, bandages, etc. As much as it looks like a lot, I think I only have about 2 months worth of full meals, and 3 months of stored potatos, butternut squash, onions and garlic. I need a lot less calories than my 25 year old son does. It's good to keep track and break it down calorie wise as to what you would need a day. I am obsessive about it and buy about 300 dollars of stored food a month, and keep doing it. My goal of course would be for a year, and I am nowhere near that right now. My concern is more economic, so if money was scarce, I would not have to spend it all at once on foods.
