I wonder why they keep them. Why not destroy them?

I get that they could be used for blackmail/mutually assured destruction purposes, but it seems stupid to keep these kinds of things in your home.

Maybe they're charging rent to stay in these buildings that just so happen to contain classified documents. You see, they didn't outright sell information, but access to said information. Maybe it's a lesser sentence if caught? Idk.
