Can 31 tanks which are incompatible with the other tanks make much of a difference?
All I see is risk for the Americans. If the Abrams tanks are defeated then the reputation of American weapons will be damaged and arms sales will be lost.
I think the days of the manned behemoth battle tank is in the past.
The future belongs to far less expensive, lighter, quicker drone tanks that can be remote controlled from hundreds of miles away. The drone tanks would be quieter, faster, could operate in coordinated groups and could be devastating for a combat enemy force.
If the U.S. Military isn't already developing an entire force of drone tanks... then they should be ashamed of themselves. Someone else will do it.
I see this as a sign of desperation.

...these tanks are going to be replacements for the Greman Leopard 2s that are going to be immediately destroyed by Russians....

Very good point!
No need for heavy armour when there aren't soldiers to protect.
