What I don't get is why do they use all the coded sneaky ways to communicate when they could just pick up the phone and talk, or send a protonmail message saying exactly what they want to say.
I think claims such as made in this type video gives far to much credit to our enemy for being smart.

Symbolism will be their downfall.
I believe the reason for this goes all the way back to the Tower of Babylon. The elite began communicating through symbols as a way to mock God.
"You think you're going to be able to change our languages again and stop us?"
No direct evidence of one on one comms so there is some plausible deniability
Comms may not be for just one person at the other end of a phone line but could be for 10s, 100s or many 1000s of people where talking to each and everyone directly is impractical.
