My normie coworkers are talking about how obvious it was that the Bengals-Chiefs game was rigged last night and were pissed about it. They were talking about how the NFL wanted the Kelce brothers to play each other, Andy Reid playing against his former team etc.
I asked how come they aren’t this pissed about the Epstein clientele list not being released? Why aren’t they this pissed about inflation? Why aren’t they this pissed about the covid scam? Why aren’t they this pissed about anything that actually matters?
They just stared at me and said nothing. Then I said well this is why this country is going down the shitter and Seattle is now a cesspool. None of you give a fuck about anything important. Then I went on my break.
Tired of normies.
Just because they engage in water cooler talk about sports doesn't make them useless. They are working and perhaps have families and are part of a community. Perhaps they mean the world to a child. Or a mother. Don't be so quick to dehumanize the people of this world. They have hopes and dreams. They are. Not worth less than you or I. No need to isolate. God doesn't make mistakes.
It's unbelievably lazy to assume the worst about those you don't know anything about but that they watch t.v. and engage in meaningless banter while working together. Work would be miserable if everyone formed deep relationships and had really substantial discussions with everyone else. No thanks. I'm grateful for small talk, and boundaries, and something of a social contract that says we shouldn't talk about religion, politics, and anything that may upset some more sensitive folks and distract from the work they're being paid to perform. As a small business owner I just want employees to be about the work. Small talk is a grease that helps the cogs stay working so the system runs smoothly. And then everyone gets to go home and have relationships with people that aren't a captive audience.
Only reasonable reply I’ve read, OP sperged out on people having a pretty normal water cooler talk
Well said. Thank you.
