Some of the stuff being taught in College now was considered typical Highschool curriculum in the 50s.
I taught hs math for 41 years and I tutor now. I tutor college students whose math classes are weaker than the Algebra 2 classes I taught in the 90s.
After finding out what is my parents my high school classes. Or even school year in general. Versus what was in mine. It was an eye opening experience at just how much got cut and simplified to the point of uselessness.
It is a lot of missed learning and opportunities for a couple generations worth of kids at this point.
Ask a typical High School Student to figure out a 1 mile sq (ea side) that would need fence posts and barbed wire. How much would be needed if there are 3 strands of barbed wire and post every 10 ft.
Believe it or not...That is a question on one of the HS exams from the 30s, 40s and early 50s...
I TOTALLY AGREE WITH BerlinWallCrosser...I would definitely hire anyone with HS diploma from the 50s!!!
