fwiw, I might have seen the damn thing (or another thing like it) a week or so ago from my driveway in Utah (though up much much higher than the footage from Montana, so harder to make out any detail).....my son went out at night out to look at the "ISS" (cough) which was supposed to pass directly overhead, and while I was out there with him looking for it, I saw a lit up round thing (wayyyy way up) moving slowly and pointed, but he said no, that's not it, it's moving too slow and is not in the right place......in hindsight I am wishing I'd been more curious....but it was frigid out there and I didn't think much/enough of it at the time.
A large object flying miles in the sky would likely have a very long range of visibility. Ever notice airliners in the sky before? I’d put the likelihood at high that it would be spotted.
If they can get Republicans all riled up with patriotic uproar at America being made to look weak and impotent on the world stage, and calling for Biden's head via 25th, impeachment, or however, then it saves the Dems the trouble, and bad optics, of having to do it themselves; only small numbers of Dem "rebels" would be needed to go against their own.
It's close to the size of a passenger jet, and at roughly 65k feet up. In mountainous Montana (Big Sky Country) that would put the balloon around 60k feet above ground level. From the perspective of a person on the ground, the ballon would appear to be something about half the size of a typical jet (due to altitude) flying overhead, moving slowly in the sky. Pretty reasonable to assume that people with good vision would spot that, imo.
