Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an intergral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on it's evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.

Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment

Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.

Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)

In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Outside of Christ - there is no true freedom.
The entire United States, and that is based on freedom, was created by Bible believing Christians.
A conceptualization:
True freedom has two essential components; one is inner freedom, aka freedom of the heart, the mind, thought aka free will. The other is external freedom, the freedom to execute, and enact that free will.
Those who are enslaved to sin are not internally free: their free will is compromised, and curtailed by the devil.
Those who are enslaved to a tyrant, whether it be a government, a corporation, or some other person or power, are not free to exercise that free will God gave them.
All external freedom emerges on the basis of internal freedom. This is why the United States, and the idea of the United States, came only on the foundation of 4000+ years of God's providence through the Israelites and then Christianity. The ethics derived from the teachings of Christ are the basis of recovering freedom in the world. Eventually, this must be fulfilled in the USA and must spread beyond the USA. We are at that stage.
