There's a Stratotanker and a Sentry (AWACS) both spending a lot of time circling the area. Most likely to support fueling, radar, and comms for a squadron of fighters.
Speculation is that this jet may be a Stratotanker, which provides in flight re-fueling for aircraft, so it may be there to service the aircraft patrolling the area and looking for the downed parts of the recent 'shoot down' near Lake Huron.
If so, it will be in a holding pattern away from, but adjacent to the area of engagement.
