Have never heard of this happening before, very notable & very weird.

What would a former DNI be able to do with this briefing? He is powerless (or is he?) to make any changes within the current admin as he has no authority. And they are briefing him not asking him for his insights which I could (sorta) understand that scenario. So, what exactly is his role here? This is truly without prior circumstance.
