My 2 cents - I think Putin should be/is more worried about NATO starting things with a nuke. I don't think Putin will drop anything in Ukr because of fallout drifting into his country and affecting his citizens. NATO people don't care because they are (mostly) farther away from potential targets (Russia). (I am assuming Ukraine/Russia comprise the physical battlefield).
Wouldn't this be beautifully capped off with 'cooler heads' sending Trump in there to negotiate a peaceful settlement?
