Kind of funny in a macabre way. It wasn’t that long ago that executions were public affairs. People dressed in their Sunday best heading to watch a hanging or firing squad. Or in the case of the French. Beheadings.
In fact the last public hanging in the U.S was 1936. Reportedly drew a crowd of between 10 to 20 thousand.
These should be livestreamed as a deterrent. Justice being served should be in the public view.
Executions should ALWAYS be as public as possible.
Live television and livestreaming would help.
Perception matters.
Not just live, but interrupting other programming. Make it impossible to avoid.
