I grew up in Chicago way back in the day. In my area we had Jews, Muslims, Hindus, blacks, hispanics, you name it. It wasn't a racial tolerance shangri la but somehow we learned to get along and live with one another just fine without some sanctimonious purple haired non-binary 'It" lecturing us on how racist and privileged we were. In retrospect it was probably because Islam, Judaism, Christianity, and damn near every religion teaches some form of the Golden Rule.
