Masonic chapters are extremely common in rural America...especially in the Midwest. Good people, among them farmers and businessmen, joined these chapters, and did good civic and charitable work. My grandfather was one such person, and was held in high esteem in his community. He raised a large family during the Depression years.
The signs, like the one pictured, are not evidence of "the evil cabal at work" in East Palestine.
