Ah, it seemed to me that the last bit "I certainly have not." was casting doubt, in general. My bad.
Also, I wasn't speaking only of you, specifically, but to everyone who thinks long covid isn't real or is only caused by the vax. Because they seem to be the majority here, on this forum. Or at least the most vocal.
I can't say that I don't have my suspicions as I know many, many people with vax related injuries, including "long covid" and in terms of informal, online viewing, I have yet to see anyone personally claim that they have long covid who are not jabbed.
However, I'm fully aware of the dangers of anecdotal "evidence". The other problem is that on a subject with a dearth of proper scientific discourse, that holds true on the subject of "long covid". There's very little supporting data for its existence. However if you claim to know two of these people, I certainly cannot ignore it.
Can you share any additional details on the two? I want to respect their privacy but this kind of data, anecdotal as it may be, is very important. When did they have covid originally, how long has long covid affected them, what are their symptoms, etc?
One is my niece. Mid 20s. She got covid in September of 2020, has never had the vaccine. She's had problems ever since. Lung issues, extreme fatigue. Occasional headaches, somewhat like migraines. Muscle and joint aches. Non-smoker. Non drinker. Was just normally healthy until getting covid.
The other is my pastor's wife. In her 50s. Never vaxxed. She got covid, I think, January or February last year. Former smoker. Doesn't drink. I don't know as much as much about her health history as I do my niece, but no biggies that I'm aware of (cancer, diabetes, heart disease, etc...). Has lots of lung problems, going to think the smoking didn't help. Also lots of fatigue. The lung problems/fatigue seem to be common. Maybe oxygen supply to blood is lower now? She's had to stop doing much of the church work she was doing before. She was very active before. Tennis and golf, grandmother, and headed up a lot of organizations at church. Doesn't play golf or tennis anymore. She gets lots of unexplained fevers now. Seems to catch every cold that comes around. Perpetual sore throat/laryngitis now.
Ugh, I'm sorry to hear that, ISDN. I'm familiar with the oxygen issues. My wife and I were "lucky" enough to get C19 in early November of 2019 when there was just a bit of chatter about it over in China. We're both used to taking our dogs for 60-90 minute brisk walks on a nightly basis and even a 5 minute walk with them had us breathing heavily. Made me worried we had pneumonia (which almost killed me many years ago) but after a month it finally passed.
Hoping and praying your niece and friend eventually heal.
Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad you and your wife came through it as well as you did. It's so sad to see how much it's devastated so many families.
