What a tragic loss. We gotta stop taking our favorite guns out on the boat. ;)
Wish I could share but lost all mine in a boating accident.
One of my favorite rifles in my collection. Looks pretty good sitting on the kitchen counter too!

Beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
I’m literally in the process of getting this exact rifle, nice! I wish their mp5 clones were a little cheaper. :/
I love the PTR rifles, but would warn you to steer clear of their 8" PDW series.
I was unaware they used a proprietary collapsible recoil rod in the 8" models and have had 2 rods bent during sustained fire. It's definitely the Achilles heel of that line.
The collapsible rods are custom made for PTR and they're the only place you can source them. If one gets bent, enjoy having your rifle out of service for at least a month.
The 8" PDW also uses a shorter bolt carrier so there are 2 major components that aren't easily sourced.
Now, their G3K clone (the K3P) has either a 12" or 14" barrel. It's just long enough to accept pretty much any HK, CETME, PTR, or POF parts. Unfortunately they've temporarily discontinued that line as they're making too much dough on the ridiculously overpriced MP5 clones.
Yeah, an MP5 is cool, but not THAT cool. I was able to build an incredible 9MM PCC with the best parts on the market (including a BSF barrel) for $1600 and it'll outperform a MP5 in every category any day of the week.
Nice! Thank you for that info! I just finished throwing another AR together and once I get the PTR A3SK I wanted to look into a PCC. Did you build it off the ar15 design?
Yes, I did and I actually built 2.
One is a competition PCC with Davinci upper and lower.
Left Side Charging Handle
Davinci BCG
Davinci Titanium Muzzle Brake
BSF Barrel
PDI Hiperfire Trigger
Armaspec Stealth Recoil Buffer
Magpul MOE-K2+ Grip
The other is a Foxtrot Mike lower with BHO and Foxtrot Mike upper.
Radian Raptor SD Charging Handle
Foxtrot Mike PCC BCG
Angstadt Arms Tri-Lug Muzzle Brake
BSF Barrel
PDI Hiperfire Trigger
Armaspec Stealth Recoil Buffer
Magpul MOE-K2+ Grip
Both of then run Glock big stick mags and Magpul 9mm PCC drums.
The PDI triggers are also pretty damn good and the BSF barrels are incredible.
Another awesome and affordable PCC is the Ruger PC Carbine. Slap a drum mag on that and it has PPSh-41 vibes.
Nice!! I’ll def check out the Ruger, thanks!
Forgot to mention that it also comes with a Glock magazine adapter.
It's a beautiful rifle. I am torn between the HK91 and the Fal's. I love them both. I have a 1974 Saco import of the HK91 and an original Austrian STG58 Fal along with a tactical para from DSArms. I would have a very hard time of leaving any of them behind. The HK91 came with two sets of front handguards, one slim and the other with bipod, the STANAG claw mount and a 30mm ring claw mount and a full shoulder stock and a collapsing stock. It is lovely in its ease of swapping furniture.
Damn, I'm jealous. Hang on to that Saco. That's an heirloom rifle especially if it has the polygonal barrel. Either way, it's a keeper for sure.
It does have the polygonal barrel. No paddle mag release. The original ones had them, but the ATF said it was to easy to convert to select fire, so the one I have was a later import without the paddle mag release.
I'm surprised that was the justification.
ANY HK or HK clone can easily be modified to select fire in minutes even with the shelf.
However, that's a big no-no and can get you into some serious trouble.
The thing is though, do you REALLY need select fire? Probably not, so no need to risk jail time over something you don't need.
In a SHTF scenario and complete societal breakdown, you could easily make the modifications with simple hand tools if you really needed to so again, why do that now when you risk serious consequences?
So back to the original point, I don't understand why the paddle mag release was the justification, but then again, there's a lot about the ATF that doesn't make much sense.
Fantastic rifle you have there though. Have you considered sending the buffer and trigger pack in to Bill Springfield for some trigger work and his improved buffer and piston? It's a solid improvement over stock.
Also grab you a #17 locking piece while you still can. That combo makes for a nice shooter.
I've fired full auto rifles in the past and they didn't really trip my trigger. I much prefer semi auto. I find that precision fire is far more effective in keeping heads down. Suppressing fire is best saved for squad weapons. Spray and pray isn't really my style.
I will do some research into the upgrades you suggested. I haven't played with it much, as I use a FAL for the service rifle steel target matches. I have also done the steel target matches with a Remington 1917, it slow going, but when I hit, the target definitely goes down. The AR shooters score hits, but din't always knock the silhouettes down. Lots of fun!
Love this idea.
