I had to read this story twice —
A local Democrat official in Massachusetts called for more abortions of children born with special needs… because they’re a strain on school budgets.

Well, if we only took $1 billion from Ukraine money, we can fix that problem couldn’t we?
Oh, word? Drain, you say? Now apply the same logic to the illegal aliens and the trannies
Isn’t that the truth ,,you’re so right !!! they talk about special needs being a strain ,, ( I have a child ) look at the schools busting at the seams with illegals , in San Diego where I live , half the classrooms, in most schools are filled with kids who can’t speak English !
The party of inclusivity.
The Nazis used this to kill off the handicapped in the 30s. The Soviets and Maoists did this when communism took over Russia and China respectively.
and our demonrats expose themselves as the nazi's they really are.
This is interesting because years ago I used to argue for school choice against communists who want monopolized curriculum control. I broke one commie down far enough that he had to admit his only good argument was that special needs students have a higher per-pupil cost to educate, so a system where a pre-set amount of money goes with each student, like a voucher system, would be “inequitable” for special needs students. If vouchers are the same $ amount for each student, then private schools would take the easy-money vouchers of the students who don’t need extra attention, and would not admit the special needs students. I countered with a weighted voucher system, where each student’s bill is itemized to account for the individual use of physical therapists, speech pathologists, school psychologists, educators or helpers assigned to individual students or small classes, etc. Of course the commie arguer ran off at that point rather than consider the solution to his “problem”. He didn’t want his problem solved. His special needs point was just a bad-faith argument intended to trap all students in the commie government system.
I speculated that the scaredy commie was also afraid of the public disclosure that would be associated with a weighted voucher system. Taxpayers might say, “we’re paying about 5K a year on this student in the 90th percentile in aptitude, but about 100K a year on this student in the 30th percentile!?!? Where’s the ROI? This is a scam. This is special needs educators financing their own careers.”
Anyway, that argument was years ago when the government gravy train was still rolling. Now that leftist policies have strangled the economy and the government’s spending power, we see a rift within the left: the gravy-loving educators vs the politicians who have to come up with the budgets. This politician, Michael Hugo, wants to kill the special needs spenders. That escalated.
