Pedophiles should be in General Population in Prison and Castrated. There are only a few killed in prison because they are segregated away from other inmates. While they may still reoffend, cutting off their junk avoids that type of penetration. Personally I feel they should never ever be let out.

A famous case from long ago, scumbag rapes a teenager in California and chops off both her arms and tosses her in a ditch. She lives and has had several documentaries made about her. Married several times with men that think they can cope with her disabilities and can't, on government assistance with several children.
Scumbag got 8 years in prison then lived 1 year in conjugal trailer on prison property because no community wanted him in them. Later gets caught in Florida Panhandle stealing a disposable Kodak camera. Judge gives him the Max of 2 months. Caught stealing a hat another time sentenced to 2 years. He then goes to Tampa and stabs a lady to death, he gets death penalty, but dies of cancer in 2001.
