Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way

I can confirm.
Children running into walls in a funhouse
Just thought of another one - Gabby Hayes announcing the new sheriff's arrival in Blazing Saddles. I hear the phrase, "the sheriff's a neeer [bell]" still quoted to this day. Thanks for posting this question. The wife and I are in stitches this rainy Tennessee morning remembering things that made us laugh over the years.
Curly from the Three Stooges. Bought the entire collection a couple of years ago. I know a lot of people don't care for them, but Curly had a comedic sense that resonated with many people. That whole stick with hand motions, wooo-wooo-wooo and nyuk nyuk nyuk kill me every time, I don't know what it is.

HRC Side ‘o beef.
That is funny.
It seems like her hands are behind her back as if handcuffed. It sure looked that way to me but when she is flung in the van (LIKE A SIDE OF BEEF,) her hands appear loose. So who knows. She didn’t need to have a public arrest to be indicted. People around her seem to have disdain for her in this video, though.
Ok - the owner is apparently “woke” since she references lady zaga, but Monte is so flippin cute!
…
Let's not forget Florence Foster Jenkins, who filled Carnegie Hall for annual recitals for many years. ...No one, before or since, has succeeded in liberating themselves quite so completely from the shackles of musical notation.

I'd add she reminds me of Citizen Kane's wannabe Opera singing wife, except, she doesn't sound as pedantic.
I think she was the inspiration.
Jesus Christ, her self-confidence is proverbial!🥳💐
Totally delusional, didn't realise people came to laugh at her. I love the way the pianist waits for her.
Bwahahahah. (Edit: I watched up until the 50 sec mark, when I wrote the following, but then went back and watched the rest. Bwahahahahahahhahahahahhhahahhahhah. That's <words fail me>!) :D)
Ah. Ok. Nostalgia, thy name is Japanese animation. With regards to the following clip, the translation has not been done by a master translator, but it is roughly, and kinda, sort of, a little bit close to the Japanese, although the cultural context has suffered more trauma than the protagonist in the Kathy Bates film "Misery".

It makes a lot more sense in Japanese, believe me.
Ah, nostalgia. Two of my littl'ens cut their TV teeth on Anpan-man's glorious adventures....
An-pan (yummy Japanese baked soft bread filled with a red bean paste) man is a the hero's hero. Virtuous, a paragon of devoted service to others, who will, in cases where someone is starving from lack of sustenance and in danger of collapsing from being famished (as is every young child's worst fear, until they arrive home from kindergarten and get lunch), our here An-pan Man will tear off a bit of his yummy head and selflessly hand it over to be eaten. Hey, it's OK. It grows back quickly.
Anpanman was created by Jam o-jiisan (kind 'uncle' Jam) who runs a bakery with the everyday young lassy Butter-ko-chan (aka "little Miss Butter"). AnpamMan is supported by a coterie of scrumptious heroes, including the shining virtuoso shoku-pan man (regular white bread man) and the rather quirky kare-pan man (Curry Bread Man - Curry Bread being a Japanese bread that is filled with Japanese curry), melon-panna chan (Little Miss Melon Bread) (https://www.justonecookbook.com/melon-pan/), and often has to cross sabres (metaphorically speaking) with the dastardly but a bit too foolish and immature to be truly scary Bai-kin Man (Bacteria Man), who wields rather advanced technologies in order to pursue his plans, plus the extremely precocious, willful, and down-right spoiled (but extremely cute) Dokinchan (She bowls over baikin man with a bat of her eyelids).
Everything a little Japanese kid needs to learn how to live with high ideals, aspire to nobility while enjoying yummy treats we all love and which make up (often) the pinnacle of the child's culinary existence.
I think you would love the last Precure series. Delicious Party Pretty Cure
Magical girls who love food and make food to enjoy with their friends
It is so WHOLESOME
I wish our American girls had properly dubbed (like disney class dubbing, not funimation/netflix cringe dubs) Pretty Cure they could enjoy as little girls while they can't read subtitles
Not even sure how to reply🤪😘

Robin Williams Rambling Joe Biden

He did a hilarious routine where he was talking about Scotland and golf. Of course, he did a lot of funny stuff.
Was that the one when he was real small? Dorf?
Glad you shared, but you really could have posted all those in one single response. IMO.

Carol Burnett Show outtakes - Tim Conway's Elephant Story

Carol later admitted in an interview she could no longer go out to dinner with Tim Conway because she would end up laughing so hard she wouldn't be able to eat. Of course, she said this facetiously, but I can see where this would be true. The dude was funny.
Yes!! He was very very funny! I still watch the elephant one and I just crack up!!
