So all the prophecies that Jesus fulfills that are in the Old Testament are not a part of it? The texts that Jesus himself read and quoted before others isnt a part of Christianity? Christianity is completed Judaism and both the old and new testament are critical to the story of God.
Amen well said. Yes this person is most definitely not correct. I will say the new is a better place for most to start. However this doesn't take away from the old in any way.
Well in that same New Testament Jesus proclaims that he “did not come to abolish the law but to fulfill it.” (Matt 5:17-18) What is that law that he speaks of? It is the Jewish law found in the scriptures contained in the Old Testament. So you've got Jesus himself, the whole focus of the New Testament, saying that his purpose is to fulfill the law of the Old Testament and thats not a part of Christianity? I’m not trying to dunk on you at all but i am urging you to do a little more reading, research and thinking on these things before saying things that arent supported by even Jesus’ own words.
I am a Christian.
I think it does need to change though. I think folks like my grandmother is what turned people off.
She is the “You will burn in hell type who is an authoritarian who uses scriptures to say she is right”
I think young people will be turned off by scripture authoritarianism.

The bible is a complete book. You must understand both. To simply say only new is not a correct approach and leads people astray
This is just silly. Jesus is both. Jesus is in the old and the new. They have unique purpose
