If you're saying to yourself, "The police would have justification to defend themselves with lethal force," remember that every one of those cops knows that their mayor, DA, police chief, and city council does not have their backs. In reality, there are parties within their local government eager to put them in jail for life. Those same parties likely had knowledge of this ambush and enabled it.
