The sword Christ mentioned is a metaphor for truth, not an actual weapon, though the truth is used properly is a razor sharp one indeed. He chastised Peter for cutting off Malchus' ear. Every time a sword mentioned coming out of a mouth is the metaphor for truth. What was meant in that Luke 22:36 scripture was to give up what earthly thing that you think protects you for something more valuable, divine truth.
Sorry but you need a different example for your point, the one you used in particular is not the right one.
A metaphor is only as effective as it is true in both senses. It is true that you need word of Truth to defend you spiritually because you need a sword to defend you physically, or the comparison has no merit
