Normally finding oil and gas near salt domes is a given. Especially with anticlines.
Keep in mind that the majority of the earth's oil and gas comes from the oceans. But the oceanic plates are recycled at a far higher rate as they are subducted into the earth than the continental crust that makes up the continental land masses. This is why oceanic plates tend to be younger. So our understanding of the earth's tectonic movements and recycling of elements isn't really fully understood.
Basically we are just starting to fully grasp how much minerals and elements our earth truly has.
