They want to limit our CO2 production using fossil fuels and at the same time limit the tree's absorption process, they really are confused or evil, my guess is the later.
My theory is, they know the Earth is actually heading into a cooling period and they want to augment the cooling process, perhaps pushing us in to a mini-ice age.
