Makes me want collard greens.
Oh yes. I love all the greens except kale. I remember picking 'poke' greens with my grandma and watching her parboil, rinse and then cook them with some fatback or a ham hock or a piece of jowl bacon. Those were the days. Collards, mustard, turnip, poke, mixed, it didn't matter. I still eat them all with a slice of boiled egg, some sliced onion and a slab of buttered skillet baked corn bread. Mmmm! Mmmm!
And dandelion greens! So good!
And I forgot spinach. And also my grandmother showed me how to look and pick 'wild' asparagus. Much better tasting than the asparagus I grow in a bed or the store bought kind. Whole different flavor.
Right there! Around here asparagus grows by the road beds. Road salt fertilizes it. Most people don't bother picking it because they don't know what asparagus looks like or something. They don't have a clue! You have to walk the ditch to find it but Sooo worth it!
