The Church Persecuted and Scattered

1 On that day a great persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria. 2 Godly men buried Stephen and mourned deeply for him. 3 But Saul began to destroy the church. Going from house to house, he dragged off both men and women and put them in prison.

8:1-4 Persecution forced the Christians out of Jerusalem and into Judea and Samaria--thus fulfilling the second part of Jesus' command (see 1:8). The persecution helped spread the gospel. God would bring great results from the believers' suffering.

Many church leaders anticipate that we will be persecuted too for our beliefs. My preacher has warned us too. Will we stand firm in our faith? Or will we frightfully stay away from church like we did when "they" scared us with Covid? As for me, I hold fast to my belief that nothing is more powerful than God! As I confirm this now, I must hurry to show up for church--to worship God with other brave believers.

Thank You, Lord, that in this country we can still worship you together. Help us remember and lift up those that are not so fortunate or are unable to. Let us keep them in our hearts and minds and prayers as our brothers and sisters in Christ. Thanks for the opportunity to share these prayers online still. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Back then there was a need to allow the church to be persecuted so that the GOSPEL would be spread throughout the world. Then Father God released His written WORD in which Genesis says we are to SUBDUE THE WHOLE EARTH. We are taught that God gave Jesus ALL POWER and Jesus gave this POWER TO THE CHURCH. We further read in the New Testament that the BELIEVERS WILL SPEAK WITH NEW TONGUES, WILL LAY THEIR HANDS ON THE SICK AND THEY WILL BE HEALED, THAT THEY WILL CAST OUT DEVILS etc. AND THAT GOD WILL WORK WITH THEM CONFIRMING WITH SIGNS FOLLOWING. So my opinion is that although persecution certainly will be present, this will be the BELIEVERS (in Jesus) best time as they "KICK DEVIL BUTT".
