Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
My husband works his butt off for his company and his paycheck sure doesn't reflect it, even after getting a 4/4 on his work evaluation, he's not even seeing a raise from it. Insurance has gone up, not sure how much, and I assume they are taxing him out the wazoo. We've had to dig so deep into our savings and it sucks. I think I will have to find at least a part time job, but that won't pay for care my son needs when I'm at work and have extra left, so I will have to get a full time job to afford it. I don't want it to be permanent, but I need to help us get out of debt and save up. That helps me mentally.
It's too bad [they're] messing everything up so bad that our investments don't pay off and we have to live paycheck to paycheck. This is the first time in years we've had to. I know others have it way worse than we do. It's maddening that the thieves and parasites are living off the backs of the populace.
God bless you in your struggles.
I know a few stay at home moms and dads who have tried working the door dash thing with some success, perhaps you could look into that. I asked specifically about taking ones kids along with you while doing the runs, because that's something I'd be interested in too. They said it's possible, but all of them choose / have the luxury of leaving their children with family, so they all do it solo. Lucky.
Then again if you're rural, it may not even be a possibility. Hang in there.
A rival company pays so much better, but it's harder to get in there as they hire from within first. He even said he would take a demotion where he is because he'd make more money with commission and wouldn't have to deal with all the issues he currently does as a manager. The turnover rate there is pretty bad as it is in much of the service industry.
