This is a bullshit claim.

It's been long known how fundamental changes to the human body occur during puberty, therefore messing with that process is almost guaranteed to have adverse effects that cannot be predicted.

Any scientist who makes the claim that they thought it would be safe is either lying or criminally negligent.
