I'm not on TS, so I don't know if Trump is still calling for protests, or not.
If so, what's everyone thinking? Care to share ideas, make a list?
At one point there was a lot of chatter about hurting the banks by taking money out of banks. Did that idea materialize?
Taking your own money out of the bank is something that might help YOU (or not, depending on what you do with it) but it won't help "bring down the banks" or do anything else your bank is likely to even notice, unless you're a billionaire.
If EVERY American debanked themselves, that'd have an effect, but that ain't gonna happen until AFTER the Precipice -- if even then, IMO.
True... but on Friday it seemed like there were a lot of calls on social media for pulling out money. So I was asking if that gained momentum.
I don't think so either. Bank runs will fuck us all IMO when we arrive and they've shut withdrawals down or something like that.
I don't know about momentum . . . but WE pulled a few thou out of an account. We did the same a few months ago; we aren't going to debank but we have reduced what we keep in the banks.
I don't think you need nearly that large of participation to make an impact.
Because of the fractional reserve system, a bank only has to have a percentage of the money it says it has in all the accounts actually on hand, and can lend out the rest. This is called the reserve ratio. So really, you'd need whatever that reserve ratio is percent of people to withdraw their funds for a bank to be completely out of money.
Here's the fun part, different banks will have their own limits, but the Fed required percentage is 0%, 3%, or 10%, depending on the size of the bank (bigger needs higher percentage).
