Mr. Sather is spewing 100% bullshit. Focal length only affects facial features if you have a wide angle lens and you are super close to the subject. What will happen is the face will curve to the lens curvature ; it won't make the face longer, but wider.
24mm isn't 'wide angle' anyway.
And it doesn't change the shape of your head, eyes, ears, jawline, nor does it make you nose longer.
