Mr. Sather is spewing 100% bullshit. Focal length only affects facial features if you have a wide angle lens and you are super close to the subject. What will happen is the face will curve to the lens curvature ; it won't make the face longer, but wider.
24mm isn't 'wide angle' anyway.
And it doesn't change the shape of your head, eyes, ears, jawline, nor does it make you nose longer.
Not bullshit. The closer you get to a subject, the more the face will block out the ears. Why would you think it was far away? Hard to believe you are a veteran photographer. A wide-angle lens works in the vertical direction as well as the horizontal. And it does change the shape (fish-eye effect), which is due to perspective. Stand 1 foot away from your car and view it in one look. Weird shape. The farther features are from the centerline, the smaller they appear. A telephoto lens will minimize this effect.
This confusion will do much to eliminate any credibility in "he's dead" or "it's a clone" arguments, when ignorant people claim identification precision that is impossible to substantiate.
I'm a photographer for over 20 years.

The picture in question is years old. Read the thread.
I think the more likely explanation is that the image was stretched to make the woman in the sundress look slimmer.
You mean his wife? Lmao
Sure
