I'm pretty sure whatever is being displayed on the screen is far more interesting than what your front camera can see.

Yes and it also takes a lot of bandwidth to stream camera info. It seems like they wouldn't bother. With how phone tech works someone could get camera access pretty easy. So I have invested a few cents in tape, apparently my system has recently failed. It seems like the tape only lasts a few weeks.
