This happened more than a year ago, and according to this link (I hate fact checks, but this one is well sourced) the US MIL dogs was brought back to the US with their handlers, while some contracted support dogs were left behind.

But I am really upset because the other dogs too. They didn’t deserve a fate like that. Ended up who knows where.
