Luke Skywalker was never a hero to me. More like a noob about to get his rite of passage. I always preferred Han Solo, anyway. Luke Skywalker came across as a pussy - sort of wet-behind-the-ears. At least Han Solo was an individual, even as his craft was held together with coat hangers and duct-tape - at least it did manage to hit Warp Speed at fortunate moments.
I have always caught Harrison Ford since, even as the cringe Indiana Jones He has portrayed Alpha males in iconic traditional hero molds. I also think he has been cast well in the 1923 series.
I should have been more specific. I thought of the whole cast of good guys as heros. Yes, Han was the absolute badass, street(galaxy) smart and could back up his mouth. Luke had to rely on the force for that.
