Think if it as a situation where someone is not aware that their parents abuse them, and use them for their own benefit because their parents always tell them I love you. So they believe the lie that they are loved because it gets repeated again and again. Somewhere deep inside of them they refuse to admit they are in a parasitic relationship with their parents because the truth is something they are not willing to accept.
