I never understood this European obsession with calling their own country "the happiest country in the world". I lived in the Netherlands and Ireland (both I've been told are the happiest countries in the world), and I can't imagine people being happy in this awful weather. Plus there's so many depressed goth people.
Nobody in Finland calls Finland happiest country. It's a common joke in Finland that Finland must rank happiest because all the sad people have killed themselves before the survey is done.
People who believe in the lie that they are the best in the world, or happiest won't life a finger to self improve. They're morel likely to accept any fuckery their government impose on them.
It's in no way unique to Europe, in fact it might be worse in the US since the public school system even avoids talking about other countries at all, they actively want to keep you in the shadows.
Most of the world learns English, French, Spanish or German but Americans only speak English. It's North Korea levels of isolation. There's another great example of people being kept in the shadows, believing they live in the best country on earth, simply because they don't know any better.
At least in Europe there's some statistical backing and you can always compare individual metrics. Bad weather is fine if you can own a big house and heat it cheaply. Bad weather is fine if you have less or no joggers in your town. Bad weather makes you appreciate the few days with good weather more. If weather was everything then wouldn't California be the happiest place on earth?
I’ve only ever heard the “Happiest Country” said ironically. Normally part of Self-deprecating jokes about how dark, wet, and cold Finland is. So all the sad people kill themselves before they finish the arbitrary surveys.
Also gigantic alcoholism problem. My friend was a NYPD offficer and an alcoholic and they sent him to the "farm". Thing is, there was another "farm" nearby which was filled to the brim with Finns.
Suicide statistics in the northern countries compared to other countries should be taken with a grain of salt. When someone commit suicide there is no stigma in the northern countries so in the statistics it is recorded as such. In many other countries there is a stigma and hence it is recorded as an accident.

This 'happiest country' BS is there to ensure that liberals remain as simpletons. No

It’s a myth.
