Ugh. Pinochet didn't have political opponents, he took out the unelected dude that did a coup with brown shirt violent activists armed from China and Cuba who burned down homes and businesses of patriotic people, disappeared protestors, etc. When he stabilized the country, restored financial foundations, education and jobs, he set up an election. Didn't jail any opponents. Rigged and he lost. Then they persecuted him and everyone with him. Then they arrested Trump.
