Most french people just went on strike, made signs and shouted "Macron demission" (macron resignation) in the streets and went back to work the next day. Like it happened a thousand times here. Few weeks passed by and less and less people are in the streets. Riots are only the result of few people, mostly Communist Black Blocks or sometimes yellow vests.
"Normal" people went on strike this time because the worker unions (controlled opposition) said "let's go" and sadly, for the most part, they have already forget about the COVID vax circus, it's really about the age of the retirement...
Its about Macron assuming the powers of dictatorship by trying to push the raising of the retirement age without a vote in parliament, the president cannot do this by himself. If he is allowed to do this he can make anything he wants into law.
And yet he is allowed to do this, he did it last october about the new healthcare system, he did it a few years back with the el khomri law, parody of democracy

Thanks for the clarity.
