Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
I dont do carnivore diet, but I cut out sugars and reduced carbs to less than a third of each meal, and I make sure there is atleast 14 hours between last meal of the day and first meal next day.
After a couple weeks, I started noticing I didnt have as much sugar cravings. I always used to be a sweet tooth, and it was surprising. Now I pretty much find the sweet stuff I used to eat extremely sweet and dont really care of them. I have taken a liking to dark chocolate - something I could never eat earlier.
I think all our sugar cravings are a function our insulin dependance. Not only do I dont crave for sugar, I also feel full with one or two moderate meals a day and dont feel like forcing myself to eat more.
Thanks for sharing what works for you. I ate as you described years ago and successfully lost weight and kept it off many years. I've always loved sweets maybe because my grandma was such a great cook. Some periods in my life I've had an issue with binging sweets and had it under control at least twelve years. I'm thinking it's mostly hormone related and a little bit emotional from the last three years. I did so good in January, went six weeks without anything sweet. Then I got sick (see my post if interested) recovering at home it's been hard to eat healthy. Hopefully will get back on the wagon cooking and planning. I most definitely need to get myself used to fasting especially at night. I know that's a key good sleep, weight loss/maintenance and general good health. Thanks I appreciate the reminder.
