It feels like caught between a rock and a hard place. I have a few reasons I don't think I will support a Trump candidacy in the next election cycle, or if I do it will not be with much enthusiasm just less dread than other options... the big reason is that once again he will not be delivering on many campaign promises because he's just one man with an incoming administration that's already proven to be capable of being inhabited by his own worst enemies. And so the ideal of accomplishing goals will not so much be based on his trustworthiness, but based on him being a specific personality and lightening rod that automatically attracts resistance in extreme forms, ways to tie up his time and effort to DEFENDING himself rather than working for more change. I know we say They're only attacking him because he is getting in their way of us, but it gets to a point where we have to ask how much is it worth dealing with and trying to be vindicated in constant faux-scandals? Where is all this taking us?
It's like what I deal with daily working in IT. The mere threats of ransomware and hacking vulnerabilities means our organization's work is compromised by the very existence of vulnerabilities and exploits even if they're never actually leveraged for an attack. The mere threat simply sucks up so much of our time and energy that overall productivity has been "attacked" already. Projects are behind schedule, because I'm futzing with application instabilities after critical Windows patching, or whatever.
This is a demoralizing situation. IS there a place for a future, organic and reasonable evolution of MAGA detached from this one individual? I say organic since of course we don't want highly compromised grifters and coattail riders sucking the life out of the movement. But some form that can allow for genuine debate and differences with the same end goal of recovering this industrial powerhouse of a nation. As it stands now, some who oppose Trump on this or that view or policy get lumped in this category of traitors to MAGA, and I don't see this as a sustainable, generational movement if that attitude doesn't also evolve.
Good point.
