Apeel has hit my grocery stores. Its partnered with bill gates, a chemical is put on produce (including organic apples). You can't wash it off and is 3x cheaper then non apeel produce. First link is the website, and the faqs even say you cant wash it off. Second link is the data sheet.
Be careful when shopping. Now that ppl are struggling, a $1 cucumber coated in apeel will be a gold mine for many. Avoid at all costs
Traditionally apples are coated with beeswax or carnauba wax. Simple baking soda diluted with water is enough to wash veggies and fruits.
If your produce has a super shine to it after using baking soda then it is possible that you have an artificial product like apeel on your produce. The claim is that apeel uses natural products, but that is dubious as best. In other words the simplest waxes that are found on earth for fruits and veggies are in fact beeswax and carnauba wax.
Lot of natural stuff, isn't good for you.....
ive never heard of carnauba, and while there are alot of dangerous natural stuff out there, are you implying you dont think beeswax safe?
Bees wax is safe, but people use the word natural like it's equal to good.
technically everything is natural. what humans do is natural and they make it sound like everything we plebs do is unnatural hehe
